WOODSTOCK
TREEHOUSE
COMPANY

The Treehouse is no longer the sole domain of children.
The magic and wonderment of a
"Haven Above" has
captivated the spirit in us all. Artists, writers and seekers
from all walks of life take solace, seek inspiration and
pursue enlightenment within these
Sanctuaries of the Trees.

In fact, Monks often take refuge within these
spiritual retreats for meditation and contemplation.
World travelers can now enjoy accommodations
at treehouse resorts in Costa Rica and other exotic
lands...complete with electricity and running water!

Whether to seek...or to escape, to retreat...or to share
with friends, the new conception of the treehouse
retains all the magic and wonderment
once the sole domain of a child.
In this Tree-Friendly design, the "Single-Pin" passes
completely through the inert heartwood of the tree,
with minimum affect to the cambium layer.
The "Single-Pin" system utilizes a single galvanized
steel rod to which the main support beams rest
within an oval-cut collar...allowing the tree total
independent movement.
Conspire with the Splendor of Nature...
Enjoy the Serenity of your own Personal Sanctuary...

The process of planning designing and creating a treehouse
begins with an on-site visit to discus your vision and to
evaluate possible "host trees" and locale. A lavish portfolio of
building designs, styles and detailing is available to each
client. When final renderings (showing dimensions, selected
materials and personalized features) are made and approved,
the creation begins!

Utilizing a unique and innovative technique I have conceived
called the "Single-Pin" method, the host tree is penetrated but
once and the structural carriage and treehouse actually
free-float within the tree.

This method allows the tree's trunk and extremities
independent movement. Furthermore, this system can be
employed in any tree configuration no matter how much
Mother Nature twists and turns.

The "Single-Pin" method is safe, strong and is the most
tree-friendly design conceived.
Meditate...      Reflect...      Rediscover...
Havens Above!
Twin main support beams with cross-supports create
a "rib-carriage" that act as the foundation for the
deck and treehouse.

After the floor decking is laid, the treehouse is framed
and a staircase installed.
A Canadian hemlock tree penetrates the tin roof and walls of this treehouse through clearance slots.

Gregory Pickard built the first of his many treehouses at age seven. In the years that followed Greg pursued
his passion for building, becoming a masterful craftsman, cabinetmaker and contractor.

As an artist, Greg has exhibited his numerous multi-medium installations at New York galleries
and at site-specific locations. In 2000, Gregory was awarded the
Jerome Foundation individual artist grant
to create his spectacular:
EXPO 2000 in which seven Native American teepees were floated in New York harbor
directly between Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. This and other exhibitions of Mr. Pickard"s have been
featured in the
New York Times and in the New Yorker Magazine.
The Woodstock Treehouse Company
is located in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York.
